How to Configure Humble in Slack

Choose What You Want Humble to Do
You can set up either a:

Knowledge Helper – for surfacing insights from your existing knowledge base.

Lookup Helper – for quick answers to structured data (e.g. team directory, product info).
Configure the Helper

In the channel, type: /humble-settings
-
A settings modal will open.

Click on Set up a helper
For a Knowledge Helper:

Select Knowledge helper from the Helper type

You’ll need a Humble Assistant account to complete this step. If you don’t have one yet, follow the steps here to create an account.

Select a knowledge base from the dropdown.

Choose interaction type:

On-Demand: Humble only replies when tagged (@humble)

Always On: Humble replies to all messages in the channel automatically

Make sure the correct channel is selected.

Click Finish Setup.
For a Lookup Helper

In the settings modal, click Set up a Helper

Choose Lookup Helper
-
Follow the prompts to complete setup.
Delete a Helper

In the channel, type: /humble-settings
-
Then click Manage helpers
-
You’ll see a list of all helpers active in your workspace.

Find the helper you want to remove.

Click Remove next to it.

Then click Stop Responding to confirm.
** Create a Humble Assistant Account

Follow the prompts to set up your account. Make sure to use the same email address you use for Slack.

Once your account is set up, you'll have access to a default knowledge base called “A Humble Helper.” You can use this to create your first AI Assistant in Slack.

You can also create a personalised knowledge base to power your own custom Assistant.
